NSS Officials pays joint Courtesy visit to EMU New Vice Rector International Relations & Recruitment and Coordinator International Relations.

On Friday 5th August, 2016, the Nigerian Students Society cabinet and some members of the senate led by the NSS Acting President Comrade Ajiboro Temitope paid a courtesy visit to the New EMU Vice Rector International Relations & Recruitment Prof. Dr. Cem TANOVA and the coordinator International Relations Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selcan TIMUR.


After the introduction of the NSS Officials, the Acting President presented that the major aim of the visit was to familiarize the society with the new leadership of the international office to enable the society plan and execute the Nigerian Week, Nigerian Night and NSS Magazine Vol. 2.0 scheduled to hold in October successfully. The acting president added by saying it was necessary for the NSS leadership to pay regular visit to the vice rector owing to the fact that the society is known for its outstanding activities and since the society organizes regular activities for her members, it was important to pay him a visit so as to be on same page with the new leadership.
He went further to inform the Vice Rector International Relations of the upcoming Nigerian Week and the propose 2nd edition of the NSS Annual Magazine scheduled to be published and lunched in October during the Nigerian Night.


The Vice Rector applauded the leadership of the NSS for finding time to visit him and went further to outline some propose plans and changes that might be made by his office in respect to student’s activities.
He encouraged and advised the NSS not to only integrate Nigerian Students in her activities but also involve non-Nigerian Students so as to boost student’s relationship on campus. The Vice Rector went further to add that all students social activities should be organized such that it satisfies and involves dynamism in activities and used as a platform of learning, this is because, lectures can may be forgotten but experiences and activities outside the lectures are always remembered, so it will be an opportunity for students to learn and improve the character of EMU Students.


The Vice Rector further to inform the NSS delegation of the plan to establish a commission that will be charged with the responsibility of looking into students society activities so as to ascertain the key deliverables, he also stated that the commission will be looking at the aim of the activity, target beneficiaries, its benefits, as these will serve as criteria for events approval. He went further to hint that all students’ activities will be handled and coordinated by a central body (Activity Office) so as to eradicate the difference between international and local student’s activities, to enable efficient planning and fair sponsorship. 


The Vice Rector reacted about the NSS Magazine by saying that basic information about Nigeria be added so as to educate non Nigerians about the cultural diversity and heritage of Nigeria as our duties are not only limited to serving Nigerians but also to inform Non Nigerians about Nigeria.
The NSS Acting President appreciated the Vice Rector for hinting the society about his propose policies and future plans.


The Vice Rector concluded by saying that during his tenure as Vice Rector, he will unite student’s activities by regularly bringing the leadership of all student's societies together in a friendlier manner to enable them share ideas to build a better student’s environment.
The NSS delegates had more friendly discussions with the Vice Rector, asked questions and photos were taken at the end of the session.
