T.R.N.C RESIDENCE PERMIT (Mühacarat) AMNESTY APPROVED BY THE MINISTRY OF INTERIOR AFFAIIRS
Published Date: Saturday, 13 August 2016

We want to use this medium to announce to our students of a new law that will clear outstanding debt for students whom for one reason or the other failed to register hence could not process their Residence Permit (Muhacarat).

The Statement Released by the Minister of Interior Affairs, Evren from Cyprus Gazete Reads... (Translated by Comrade Abubakar Mustapha Sadiq)

"According to a News Report from Cyprus Gazete released few days ago, an Amnesty has been signed for both those fined for illegal residence and those under sanction status abroad. The Minister of Interior affairs, Evren also highlights those that have migrated and are working without work permit, can also benefit from the Amnesty by paying a specific fee lower than the actual fine.

Minister Evren continues, saying there are lots of people that have been waiting for the approval of the Amnesty.

For Foreign students that have over stayed their residence in TRNC, they can benefit from the Amnesty without having to Exit the Island. Those that wish to benefit from the Amnesty can apply to the Residence Office within a period of 3 months. They will be required to pay a minimum fee (1500-2100tl), with an extra 250tl.

For those that wish to benefit from the accessibility to work permit, before exit from the Island, they will be granted a post-work permit notice.

Evren also mentions:

According to the current law if a foreign National overstays his residence, and refuses to pay the specified fine, he will be completely unable to even enter the TRNC. However, in the new law, foreign Nationals that are unable to pay the specified fine are disallowed to come into TRNC for a specific period of time, after exhausting the specified period, they could return without having to make any payment. In case the foreign National falls into the same situation, his violation will be a double count, making it two counts of violations"
