Elections

The election of the president and the vice president of the NSS is a direct election in which Nigerian Students of the University who are registered students in any of the University Programs, cast ballots directly. The candidate who receives an absolute majority of votes is then elected President. If no candidate receives an absolute majority of the votes for president, the International Offices sets fresh runoff elections to choose the most qualifying candidate for the presidency.

Presidential elections occur annually (organized by the International Office) with registered Nigerian Students casting their ballots on Election Day, which usually occurs between late October/November and the presidential term begins on NSS Inauguration Day, which since the passage of the NSS 2020 Constitution has been set at December 5.

Meanwhile, Elections into Senate Offices are made after Senate Appointments and the New Administration has sworn in the Senators
